Knot for Sail

But we can be had…

Our Pirate Band

Our Story

A slightly tall tale.

A pirate band? Strangely, almost all pirate groups are sans a pirate band, for what reason we can’t fathom.

Knot for Sail has been The Pyrates of the Coast pirate band for the last 30 years.

During their amazing career, they have performed all over the world (well, the U.S., Central America, the Caribbean and Canada).

They’ve opened for the likes of Sons of a Beach, Tim Noah, Nadira Shakoor, The Mayer Brothers, The Kingsmen and countless others.

They’ve also been featured performers at Folklife, Sail Boston, Pirates in Paradise, Rusty Scuppers Pirate Daze, TropStock and Captain Morgan rum raids.

The band plays a wide range of music, from 60s folk and 50s standards to the nautically influenced songs from Great Big Sea, Pierce Campbell, the Kingston Trio, Harry Belafonte, the Tradewinds, Jimmy Buffett, Gordon Lightfoot and even Looking Glass (Brandy, you’re fine girl, what a… you get it).

The current band consists of Hurricane on tenor guitar, banjo and vocals; Krimson Kat on tenor ukulele and vocals; Sloe Gin on noisy things and vocals and Animal on 6- and 12-string guitar. We’re also lucky enough to have Lickety Split along with us now and then on mandolin.

They are available for gigs involving all the Pyrates of the Coast as well as band only appearances. They’ll be more than happy to liven up your next party with their tight harmonies and hilarious hijinks. They’re more fun than a barrel of monkeys and a lot cheaper, too!

Check out a selection of music the band performs.
